HOT! HOT! HOT!
With the return of summer and the hot weather we have had over the last couple of weeks we would like to take the opportunity to remind you that if you need a drink so will your flowers and indoor plants. In the hot weather your flowers will tend to drink much more water than usual so you should keep an eye on the water level in the vases. Arrangements in florist foam should be topped up daily as they will dry out quickly. Watch indoor plants for wilting leaves or if they just look a bit tired give them all a good drink by popping them into the shower for a few minutes to revive them.
NEW AND IMPROVED CAXTON ST CATERING/URBANE EURO
Tom Bourke took the opportunity to relaunch Caxton St Catering in October with an event in the showgrounds to focus on new food menus and a new direction for the business. In typical style Tom entertained the 400+ guests with the idea that food is an art form, right down to muscle boys covered with chocolate. www.caxtonstcatering.com.au
Drew and Andy the boys from Urbane reopened Thursday 19 November after a renovation/addition/new kitchen/bar. Urbane is back with it stylish interior over two levels. Next door is the new addition Euro Bistro offers punters another choice in the city. Offering food and drinks while there is a dedicated bar upstairs great for your Christmas party.
PEONIES
They are back and beautiful as ever. For those who have been into the shop over the past 4 weeks the short season is in full swing. There has been a good supply of dark red colour from last year but the pinks and whites are very popular. The season depending on the Victorian weather will be over by mid December so dont miss your opportunity to enjoy these wonderful blooms.
DAHLIA DAYS
Another flower from the old world has arrived back and becoming popular. Grown from tubers the Dahlia plant produces a large number of flowers and depending on the verity the actual blooms can be as big as dinner plates. Our farmers at Kalbar Bevan and Elizabeth are growing a number of dahlias for us including a large bloom burgundy and orange as well as a bi-colour white and purple.
NEW TIMES
With the later setting of the sun we have opted to open a little later in the evening Wednesday to Friday we will be open until 7pm in case you get caught out enjoying the afternoon.
