About Bardon

Bardon is a leafy residential suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 5 kilometres north-west of the Brisbane CBD.

History of Bardon

Bardon was originally known as Upper Paddington. It was renamed in 1925 by the Ithaca Town Council after the Bardon villa built by Joshua Jeays in 1863. It is also named for Bardon Hill in his native Leicestershire, England.

Tourist Attractions in Bardon

Bardon has several parks and reserves including Bardon Esplanade Park, Bardon Scenic Reserve, and the Bardon Park that has facilities for Bardon Bowls Club. As well the Bowman Park which is good for picnicking and making the kids enjoy playing basketball, cricket pitch, BMX and skate paths in the sports oval.

Also it has the Bardon House, a Gothic stone pile and one of the heritage-listed sites.

Schools and Sports in Bardon

Bardon has several educational institutions.

The government primary schools for boys and girls are the Ithaca Creek State School found at Lugg Street, Bardon State School at 330 Simpsons Road, and Rainworth State School at 185 Boundary Road. 

It also has the St Joseph's School which is a Catholic primary school for boys and girls at 41The Drive. 

Bardon is a home to the Wests Panthers and Wests Juniors Leagues Club that is both a rugby league club, and the Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club. 

Bowman Park is also home to the Bardon Latrobe football club which is one of the oldest football clubs in Brisbane, and the West Brisbane Cricket Club.
