About Boondall

Boondall, formerly known as Cabbage Tree Creek, is a northern suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 15 km north-east of central Brisbane.

Boondall is bordered by Cabbage Tree Creek on the north, and by Zillman Waterholes and Nundah Creek on the south.

History of Boondall

The suburb was first known as College Hill because of the proximity of Nudgee College and the railway station. In 1923, the name was changed to Boondall which was derived from an Aboriginal word meaning either crooked creek or cunjevoi.

Tourist Attractions in Boondall

Boondall has several parks including Barlow Place Park, and Boondall Park. Mulbeam Park features  picnic and play areas, basketball court, and a dog park.

The suburb also has the Boondall Wetlands Park where visitors can enjoy the area and its Environmental Centre. The centre has a range of activities including cycling adventures, guided walks, arts, crafts and indigenous cultural workshops.

Schools and Sports in Boondall

Boondall has the local school Boondall State School which has received numerous awards for their educational programs.

The  St Joseph's College, Nudgee, situated in the southern part of Boondall, produced seven Rhodes scholars causing The Internationally recognised and acclaimed the school.

Boondall is home to the Ice World Boondall, an ice sports and public ice skating centre. It is where the Brisbane Blue Tongues of the Australian Ice Hockey League used to play before relocating to Bundall Iceland on the Gold Coast.
