About Greenslopes

Greenslopes, a residential suburb of Brisbane, Queensland Australia. It is located 5 kilometres south-east of the Central Business District.

History of Greenslopes

The suburb was named after an early estate in the area who was owned by Frederick Wecker. He purchased the land in 1857 and named it Greenslopes because of the green pastures of the area.

The south-east area of Stones Corner was where the Greenslopes district was originally confined. And by the early postwar years, Greenslopes had become a mature suburb.

Tourist Attractions in Greenslopes

Tourists can tour on Logan Road where the local shopping precinct Greenslopes Mall lies and have fun exploring Stones Corner which is known for its assortment of ethnic communities, ethnic retail food outlets and several sidewalk restaurants and cafés

The suburb also has several parks including A. J. Jones Recreation Reserve, Roseglen Street Park, and Thompson Estate Reserve, that features barbecue and picnic area/shelter, playground, and half courts.

Schools and Sports in Greenslopes

Greenslopes State School is a primary school and also formerly known as Dunellan State in 1893-1923. It has formed a strong association with the past and present community of Greenslopes making it to be listed as heritage.

Ekibin Park East located at 133 Juliette Street provides community organisations and facilities for the suburb’s sporting clubs which are the Annerley Recreation Club, and Greenslopes Bowls Club. The Bowl Club was founded in 1958 to develop a social and sporting hub for the community.
