About Kangaroo Point
Kangaroo Point is a suburb of the inner south of Brisbane, Queensland , Australia. Kangaroo Point had a population of 8,063 at the 2016 census.
Kangaroo Point is situated just east from the central business district of Brisbane over the Brisbane River, although being on the south side of the river is usually considered a southern suburb.
History of Kangaroo Point
Prior to the British settlement, the Turrbal people had settled Kangaroo Point. This is one of the youngest suburbs in Brisbane and also one of the newest suburbs in Brisbane, abundant with tradition and character. Around the 1900s, it had a reputation for violent and rowdy street gangs, with several street riots.
Tourist attraction in Kangaroo Point
The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are heritage-listed cliffs in Queensland , Australia, situated at Kangaroo Point just across the Brisbane River from the Brisbane CBD.
They are conveniently near to the city and South Bank Parklands, a common leisure spot particularly for climbing and running.
It can be accessed by the Pacific Motorway, South East Busway or a ferry to the ferry wharf on Thornton Lane. The cliffs were built after quarrying stone from the site and were used to construct a variety of local structures.
