About Spring Hill

Spring Hill is a neighborhood of Brisbane City, Queensland , Australia.

It sits 2 kilometers north of the main business district of Spring Hill. The Brisbane CBD can be known in areas of Spring hill as branches.

History of Spring Hill

Spring Hill was called in the 19th century as Brisbane's first fresh water supply was built on the hill on which the settlement was built. The border streets in Spring Hill and in the West End were called as a consequence of the discriminatory policies of dividing the residents of Jagera from the citizens of Turrbal.

Spring Hill is one of Brisbane 's oldest residential areas, where several houses date back to the 19th century.

In the 1870s some of the house plots were surveyed in Sedgebrook Lane. But several existing residential and industrial structures have been destroyed in the last several decades. These are replaced with new office buildings and apartment complexes.

The Old Windmill was constructed in Wickham Park in 1824 when Brisbane was a penal colony and used as a colony gallow. The Brisbane City Council's Spring Hill Baths are Queensland 's oldest public pools.
