About Windsor

Windsor is a suburb of Brisbane City, Queensland , Australia, in the inner north.

Windsor sits about 3.5 kilometers (2.2 mi) from the central business district of Brisbane.

It is mostly suburban, including many old Queenslanders, but there is also substantial commercial retail development, clustered mainly along Lutwyche and Newmarket Avenues.

History of Windsor

Property was first sold in this rural area of New South Wales in 1854 and progress was slow before the Bowen Bridge opened in 1860, named for Queensland's recently appointed first governor, Sir George Bowen, providing better access to the region.

The area was classified at the period as Breakfast Creek, or Upper Breakfast Creek. Distinctive homes were built on large portions of land including Rosemount, Oakwal, The Bower, Wilston House, and Eildon.
