About Woolloongabba

Woolloongabba is an Australian suburb of the City of Brisbane , Queensland.

It is 2 kilometers (1.2 mi ) southeast of the CBD, surrounding the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba) and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

This is followed by many large highways, such as the Pacific motorway. A huge tram warehouse was once located in the neighborhood.

History of Woolloongabba

The suburb has a significant link with the transportation background in Brisbane.

Between 1884 and 1969, the only rail locomotive depot on the Brisbane River was situated near Stanley St. Passing Stanley St, Logan Road and Ipswich Road to Dutton Park main road, the main line was entered by a rail.

By the 1960s, traffic was greatly slowed because these three major roads were lined by the depot.

From 1885 to 1897, the suburb was operated by horse-drawn trams replaced by electric trams which in effect came to an end on 13 April 1969.

Tourist attraction in Woolloongabba

The suburb is host to the so-called "Gabba" Cricket Ground in Brisbane and the Hospital Princess Alexandra.

Woolloongabba is situated between the middle of Brisbane and the parks of the South Bank. Thanks to the several apartment houses overlooking the water. The Hotel Norman has operated since 1890. Woolloongabba is the home of the Queensland Justices Association.
